I'm seriously taking offence to the dozens and dozens of anti-FTAA stickers being posted around campus. Not only are they a cleverly disguised form of vandalism, but they perpetuate the elitist attitude exhibited by new-age student leftists in today's universities. For some reason they see themselves outside the confines of traditional student politics or campus advertising conventions, where simple posters put up on bulletin boards or lamp posts serve to get their particular message across without invading the personal viewing space of its intended audience. These stickers, on the other hand, appear on university study carols, urinals, doors, recycling bins, elevators...the list goes on. What right do they have to install such semi-permament fixtures on someone else's physical property, (especially since these are low-quality stickers which are impossible to remove cleanly). Not only does this mass sticker campaign ineffectively get their message across, but it widens the tolerance gap between moderates and dogmatic protestors bent on politicizing even the most ideologically neutral of issues...gender-neutral bathrooms, anyone?
