With the Bangladesh Supreme Court as a backdrop, human rights activists in Dhaka gathered this morning to form a human chain to mark International Human Rights Day, 56 years after the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10th, 1948.

It was the first time I have participated in such a public demonstration, and with local police and a number of journalists standing by I felt only pride rather than fear or anxiety.
